The Beach

We are so lucky to be able to go down to California every year to my in-law's condo in Oceanside. I didn't think we'd be able to this year because of so much going on, but Oakley and I fit it in somehow. We drove down with Wes's parents on Saturday and flew back on Wednesday, so we got a few days of sun in.
Oakley was so excited to see the beach. He had watched an Elmo's World on the beach so he knew what it was, I think. He wasn't quite sure about the waves at first, but he got used to the cold water and he loved it after that.
As we walked down the beach he would say "It's coming, it's coming" all excited like when the waves would come. As you can tell from this picture one wave came fast and high. We weren't prepared. Oak got wet up to his armpits.
This doesn't do it any justice, but here's my attempt at catching the sunset. They are so beautiful there.
Of course, we always have to have the famous huge pizza. Grandpa's standing in the back so we could have a reference as to how big it really is. It's huge, and so yummy!
Oak liked walking down the pier and watching the waves crash and all the surfers. He was a trooper and walked all the way down the pier and back.
We all thought this guy was crazy. How does he do that?
Last year Oak would play in the sand for like 2 minutes and then run up to the street, but this year he actually liked playing in the sand and did for an hour or so. It was nice not to have to chace him around.
After playing in the sand we played in the water. Once again it took Oak a minute to warm up to it, but then he loved it.
He had this little boat and he would throw it in the water and the waves would push it back to him. Then he'd grab it and run up the beach to where Grandma was sitting and tell her "water wet" and some other stuff that she didn't understand. Then he'd come back down and do it again. He's so silly. A few times he got caught in a "Biggy one", which were the big waves. He didn't mind though. He still loved it.
After a long day of playing he was always so worn out. He slept so well on this trip. I was a little worried about how he'd do but he was great.
We went to the outlet mall there and Oakley didn't care for shopping, he just wanted to ride with spiderman. Uncle Ben didn't care for shopping either.
The last day we went and played at the park. The first pictureis one from this year, and then one from last year. Boy has that kid changed. It's fun to see how much he's grown.
What can I say, he loves slides.

After a few days of playing we got to fly home on an airplane. Oakley was excited about the airplane. Here he is waiting patiently in the airport. We can't wait to go back next year.
