July 2019

While I was in Indianapolis Wes took the boys on some fun adventures, and taught Oakley how to mow the lawn. I'm glad they can survive without me.
Since I was out of town reffing we only got to go up to Bear Lake for one day, but it was worth it. The boys had a blast, and we got to ride on uncle David's boat. Oakley and Tyson kneeboarded, and I tried wakeboarding and actually got up for a while. It was fun, but oh my back sure hurt after that.
The boys got to drive the boat and they loved it. Good thing we were on a huge lake, and no other boats around.
We sure have some fun cousins, and we love to spend time at the lake with them. We wanted to stay and camp, but mom had to get back to help with  a tournament the next day.
The next day was July 4th. We went to Murray park and Oakley and Wes played in a parent child volleyball tournament. The little boys and I got to watch the parade and gather candy right there in the park. It was fun.
Wes and Oak did really well and ended up taking first place. I was so proud of Oak, for his first tournament. What a fun experience.
The summer sure wears out the boys. One night I found Tyson asleep in his room after watching YouTube videos on his tablet. poor kid was so worn out.
Tyson is not quite 8 years old yet, but they let him go to cub scout camp anyway. With the church not really doing scouts anymore, I didn't know if he would get the chance again, so we went him. I was able to go with him one of the days, and it was a blast to see the fun stuff they do up there. It's a little nerve wracking with all the 8 year olds, but fun none the less. We even got to hold a little bearded dragon. It was pretty awesome.
Dax turns 5!!! He was excited to open his presents. He was counting down the days. We had cousins come over for a little water party, then we went to Waffle Luv, one of his favorite places to eat. Happy Birthday Kiddo!!
Some time you just need something fun to do in the summer. There is a Hawaiian ice place just up the street from us, that we had never tried, so one day I took the boys and they all got their own frozen treat. Yum!
We also went to Cowabunga Bay. It was a little crazy because it was a Tuesday and they do two for $22 on Tuesdays, but it was still a blast, and the kids are old enough that I didn't really have to stay by them, they just all did what they wanted. That place is fun.
I taught Oakley how to play Monopoly and now he is obsessed with it. I used to love this game as a kid. My cousin Esther and I would play it for hours and hours, and across multiple days at a time. I love it. We also taught Tyson how to play, and I don't think he loved it as much. He just wanted to be the banker the whole time and not play. And we got out our Star Wars-opoly and made Dad play with us once. He hates the game, but did it for us. Fun times
We also got to meet our new cousin Quincy. What a cutie she is. She looks just like her sisters.
Our tradition for the 24th of July is to just get a few fireworks and light them off at home so we don't have to fight the crowds anywhere else. So that's what we did this year. It's fun to see the boys enjoy these holidays.
This year we did not get Lagoon passes, but we missed it, so we decided to go one day. We headed up as a family and went on all the rides. The boys loved Rattlesnake Rapids and all the big roller coasters. We had a blast. We even met our cousins, the Mays there, and ended up spending the rest of the day with them. It turned out to be a blast. Next year we are definitely getting passes again though.
